北京时间10月7日下午,2013年诺贝尔生理学或医学奖揭晓,科学家James Rothman,Thomas Sudhof,and Randy Shekman 因在细胞内囊泡运输上的研究成果而获得此奖。

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2013 was awarded jointly to James E. Rothman, Randy W. Schekman and Thomas C. Südhof "for their discoveries of machinery regulating vesicle traffic, a major transport system in our cells".

三位科学家简介:

James E. Rothman于1950年出生于美国麻省Haverhill,1976年从哈佛医学院获得博士学位,曾在MIT做过博后。1978年他进入斯坦福大学,开始了对细胞囊泡的研究。他曾任职的研究机构还包括普林斯顿大学、纪念斯隆-凯特灵癌症研究所和哥伦比亚大学。2008年,他加入耶鲁大学,目前为该校教授和细胞生物学系主席。
